The Brock Jr Badgers are excited to have Evan McGrath and Mia Landry as our Directors of our High Performance Programs.

EVAN MCGRATH

Evan McGrath, born on January 14, 1986, in Oakville, Ontario, is a former professional ice hockey center with a distinguished career spanning over a decade. He began his journey with the Oakville Blades in the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League before joining the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) in 2002. During his rookie season, McGrath contributed significantly to the Rangers' success, culminating in an OHL Championship and a Memorial Cup victory in 2003.

Recognized for his offensive prowess, McGrath was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the 4th round (128th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He commenced his professional career with the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League (AHL) and later played for teams across Europe, including stints in Sweden's Allsvenskan and the Swiss National League B. He concluded his professional playing career with the Sheffield Steelers in the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) during the 2018-2019 season.

Transitioning from player to mentor, McGrath has been dedicated to developing young hockey talent in the Niagara region. His commitment to fostering growth and excellence in youth hockey led to his appointment as the High Performance Director of the Brock Jr. Badgers Girls Hockey Association. In this role, McGrath leverages his extensive experience to enhance player development programs, emphasizing skill development, strategic understanding, and sportsmanship. His leadership aims to inspire the next generation of female hockey players, ensuring they receive top-tier training and support within the Niagara community.
Evan's responsibilities will include leading the AA High Performance teams, Coach and Player development, program long range plan and sustainability model. The Brock Jr. Badgers are extremely proud to have Evan's expertise along with his vision for female hockey in Niagara. Evan is already hard at work planning the next steps and working with the 2025/26 coaches preparing them for an exciting new chapter for the Brock Jr. Badgers.

MIA LANDRY

Mia Landry grew up playing her minor hockey for Saugeen Maitland and U22 hockey for the Cambridge Rivulettes. She was a defensemen at Brock University for three years, and now as a graduated USPORT athlete, is completing a masters in Sport Psychology, researching female USPORT coaches pathways to building successful programs. Mia also took part in Hockey Canadas Creating Coaches mentee program, and has held a role as a Hockey Canada summer student for the Women and Girls department. Mia works full-time as a Mental Performance Coach at CEP Mindset, and is very passionate about helping athletes with their mental game. Mia’s extremely invested in the growth of women and girls hockey within Canada and especially in our St. Catharines community. Mia's coaching philosophy emphasizes a "whole" player development approach, ensuring athletes excel both on and off the ice. She collaborates with coaches, staff, and players across various teams to prepare them for high-level competition. Through her dedication and comprehensive approach, Mia Landry continues to inspire and cultivate the next generation of female hockey talent in the Niagara region.
